The Sun is Finally Shining!

This photo was taken on my walk through Hulne Park. I was so excited to wake up and see that the sun was finally out. I took this photo because I liked the contrast of the light areas and the shade. I also liked the way the sun was shining on the walking path. I was inspired to include this in my blog to show landscape and also to remember how happy I was to get out for a walk on a sunny day.

Gothic Edinburgh

This photo was taken while walking down the hill leaving Edinburgh Castle. I took this picture because I loved the architecture of the Gothic style building in the back of the picture. I also liked the contrast of the dark colored building with the light sky background. I included this in my blog to document my trip to Edinburgh because I loved the old architecture of city.

Colors of Alnwick

As I was walking through Alnwick I noticed that most stores have flower boxes on the outside of the windows, unlike we do in Minnesota because of the harsh winters. The colors of the purple flower and how it contrasted with the white caught my eye right away. I was inspired to include this in my blog to represent a still life object and also to document the gorgeous flowers that Alnwick can have year round.

A Rainy Day in Scotland

I took this picture to portray people in photography. As we left Edinburgh castle it was raining and cold and we were hurrying to get somewhere dry. I noticed this couple in front of me slowly walking while huddling together to keep warm. I wanted to include this in my blog to document my rainy day in Edinburgh. Also, the darkness of the picture and the couple together signifies for me the relationships I miss from home.

Grazing in Hulne Park

I took this picture to represent my experience here with wildlife. As I walked the trails for my first time in Hulne park I could not figure out what type of animal this was. A sign near by noted Bull Grazing, but as I got closer my assumption was wrong. I included this in my blog because it reminds me of the trail I walk in Hulne Park and also I liked the colors of this animal and the shadow it portrayed on the green grass.

Night Falls on Alnwick

I took this photo on one of the streets here in Alnwick. It was taken right before dark and before the street lights came on. What I liked about this shot was the building on the left. It curves around the corner leading ones eye to the rest of this picture. One may look at this photo and think where does it lead to? I was inspired to include this in my blog to represent the gray days here in Alnwick and also the old style of buildings that we walk by daily.

Debate This

I took this photo while in the debating chamber at Parliament. I thought the whole building was creative and something new and different. I loved the contemporary style of the new building and specifically the style of the ceilings. I decided to use this as my abstract picture to document my visit to Parliament.

Cruisin the Streets of Alnwick

I took this picture as the car was in motion. It was a gray day and I liked the contrast of the white/gray sky with the black car. I wanted to include this photo in my blog to document the smaller sized cars that one sees all around the UK to compensate for the small roads.

Fungus Amungus

I was standing on a corner in Alnwick and a tree surounded by benches caught my eye. I took this as a low camera angle shot bending down by the stump of the tree. I wanted to include this in my blog because I liked the lighting of the picture and the way the branches draw your eyes to the background of the picture.

Left Side of the Road?

I took this picture up on a hill looking down on the road. I thought the side walk and the vines draping the wall was really neat. I wanted to include this in my blog because it documents my new experience of seeing people drive on the left side of the road instead of the right like I am used to driving myself.
